Service Description

This ancient eastern practice of Pranayama consists of a two-part breath. The practice of breath work turns off the mind and turns the body on, opening us up to experiencing a wide variety of sensations. We are oxygenating blood and stimulating the hypothalamus gland, which releases endorphins, thus activating the ductless glands. This experience helps us to move stagnant energy through the body, leaving us feeling energized and lighter. The active breathing phase lasts for anywhere from 20-25 and sometimes 30 minutes, followed by the resting/integration phase. An in-person session includes the optional use of essential oil blends anointed on the chakra points of the body, essential oil sprays to stimulate deeper healing, affirmations and vocal releasing of energy through vibration, and custom journaling exercises. The client lies down for the duration of the entire breathwork session, usually under a blanket due to the temperature changes that can occur.  Due to the incredible nature of breathwork, clients may have psychic experiences, emotional experiences, or intense physical experiences. Sometimes, clients can experience what is called tetany, where the muscles begin to cramp up. This is believed to be stagnant energy being "knocked loose" by the influx of oxygen and awareness of bodily sensation during the process. The practitioner will provide palm stones to help with this experience, as it has the potential to be joyful or uncomfortable. Integration support is provided by the practitioner following the session.  **There are no current known contraindications with breath work and pregnancy, but if you are pregnant, please discuss breath work with your medical doctor or midwife before engaging in this practice. Breath work is not recommended for people who suffer from epilepsy, as this practice can trigger seizures. If you have asthma, it is recommended to bring your inhaler just in case you need to use it.*
